  2. Callithricidae, found in South and Central
  3. America. Most species have characteristic
  4. tufted ears, clawlike nails, and a handsome
  5. tail, and some only reach a body length of 18
  6. cm, 7 in. The tail is not prehensile. Some are
  7. known as tamarins.
